MUSIC HISTORY 102: This site
is a guide to Western composers and
their music from the Middle Ages to
the Present.
THIS DAY IN MUSIC HISTORY: This
site has a daily listing of what happened
musically on this day in history. It
also includes a search engine that
allows you to input your own date.
THE NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC KIDZONE:
This site is specifically geared for
kids. It is slow loading but certainly
worth your time. You can visit the
Musician's Lounge, where you will be
introduced to some of the N.Y. Philharmonic
musicians. You can visit the Instrument
Storage Room, where you get a description
and little history of each musical
instrument. In addition you can hear
a sampling of the sound produced by
the particular instrument. Do you feel
like inventing your own instrument?
Be sure to visit the Instrument Lab.
There is much much more at this site,
even a section on games!
MUSICALS101.COM: For those of
you into musicals, this site is The
Cyber Encyclopedia of Musical Theatre,
TV, and Film. It contains a musical
"who's who" with loads of all-star
biographies, and an extensive section
on the history of musicals.
NIEHS KIDS' PAGES: This link
will take you to the Sing Along Songs
section of the NIEHS site. There you
can click on your favorite children's
song, see its lyrics and listen to
the music.
CAROLINA CLASSICAL CONNECTION: This site is basically an index of classical music links.
It is subdivided into various musical periods: Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic,
20th Century, and more. Click on any selection and you are presented with links galore summarizing
the history of the period, its composers, and even a sampling of its music. There is just too much here
to do justice to a description. Check it out!
MOGULS TO MOZART: For the "kid" in you if you are already an adult. Here you will find a
multimedia presentation of "Mozart's Magical Life and Music." I would simply describe it as a fantastic
fairy tale version of Mozart's life.
WDAV: If you enjoy classical music, this is the online radio station for you.
I think it plays 24 hours of music with perhaps some news thrown in.
RTN RADIO:And for those of you who enjoy classic rock, here is the
the station for you.
