The Home
Instruction guidance office supports the Home Instruction program in
very important ways. It is responsible for the intake and monitoring of
all CSE cases. By reviewing all clinical material it insures that
students receive all appropriate transition services and receive
appropriate and timely placements. The guidance office serves as an
important liaison between the CSE, parents, schools, supervisors and
teachers.
Guidance
assists in course programming for those students who are diploma-bound
and for students who have been classified as requiring alternate
assessment. Guidance arranges for SAT exam proctoring and for both
city-wide and state wide standardized testing.
Guidance
counselors are key members of the Committee for Suicide Prevention and
serve as a resource provider for parents, students and teachers who may
need the services of agencies such as VESID, AHRC, FEGS and the Anxiety
Disorders Hotline. Guidance may participate in monthly staff
development workshops to help present information on IEP
implementation, AIDS training, abuse training and other testing issues.
Guidance
responds to requests from the Office of Disabilities and assists in
matters related to updated medicals, crisis intervention, PINS
petitions, referrals to agencies and Board of Education services such
as the Division of Transportation Services.
